CARLTON LIFESAVING CLUB CONSTITUTION

1.      NAME: The club shall be known as the Carlton Lifesaving Club

2.      OBJECTS:

a)      to further the interest in the saving of life from drowning

b)      to train swimmers in the methods of relief, rescue and resuscitation of the apparently drowned, as laid down in the literature of the Royal Lifesaving Society.

c)      to foster comradeship between all who are interested in the aims of the Royal Life Saving Society

d)     To enrol a Lifeguard section.

3.      MEMBERSHIP: shall be open to persons who:

a)      can swim 50m on the front, 50m on the back continuously, and immediately afterwards tread water for two minutes

All subject to the Technical Officer's discretion. Minimum age eight years

4.      FINANCE: All accounts shall be made up the end of the financial year i.e. 31 March. The club shall be financed by

a)      Annual Membership Fee — to become due on 1 June each year.

b)      Weekly/monthly admission fee

c)      Donations

The Committee shall have the power to raise or lower charges without notice.

5.      OFFICERS: shall consist of: President, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Technical Officer, Membership Secretary (including Publicity), Approved Training Centre Officer, Equipment Officer, Internal Assessment Officer (Lifeguarding), Safeguarding Officers (two of), and four other Officers.

All Officers shall be appointed and named, annually, at the Annual General Meeting of the club.

6.      QUORUM: The minimum number of  Officers required to be present to constitute a quorum at Executive Committee meetings and Annual General Meetings, shall be five. This will not apply to small ad hoc meetings, except in exceptional circumstances, asked to report to the executive Committee on an issue referred to them by the Executive Committee or by the Annual General Meeting.

7.       PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION: The Club will adhere to its Principles of Operation relating to Behaviour Policy, Disputes, Protection of Potentially Vulnerable People, and General Data Protection Regulations.

8.      AFFILIATION: The Club shall be affiliated to the Royal Life Saving Society.

9.      ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION: any proposed alterations to the Constitution shall be submitted to the Secretary, in writing, not less than fourteen days before the Annual General Meeting.

10.     ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS: will be held as soon as practical after 1 April.
